Biography

I am Dr. Bhavesh Parmar, originally from Junagadh, Gujarat (India). I earned my B.Sc. (2010) and M.Sc. (2012) degrees in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry at Saurashtra University, Rajkot (India). Following my master’s degree, I joined Dr. E. Suresh's research group as a Project Assistant at the CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI), Bhavnagar (India). I then pursued my Ph.D. in the same research group at the Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad (India), completing my degree in February 2020. My doctoral research focused on the structural and functional aspects of multidimensional coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks. During my Ph.D., I was awarded the CSIR-Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) to support my research from 2017 to 2020.Following my Ph.D., I took on an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow (i-PDF) position at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Punjab (India), (2020-2021). In 2020, I was awarded a CSIR-Research Associateship (CSIR-RA) and rejoined the CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI), Bhavnagar (India), (2021-2022). In 2021, I was awarded the prestigious JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship, which allowed me to join the Department of Applied Chemistry, Kyushu University, Fukuoka (Japan) (2022-2024), to advance my research. Upon completing the JSPS fellowship, I was promoted to Research Assistant Professor in the Yanai Lab at the Department of Applied Chemistry, Kyushu University, Fukuoka (Japan) (April-September 2024).Currently, I am working as a Research Assistant Professor in the Yanai Lab at the Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo (Japan), (September 2024-present). My main research interests lie in the development of multifunctional coordination polymers (CPs), metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and MOF-based nanocomposites for applications in sensing/encapsulating organic-inorganic pollutants, CO2 sequestration, heterogeneous catalysis, electrocatalysis, photo-functional materials, triplet fusion, singlet fission, quantum qubits and quantum information science. I have expertise and experience in small molecule crystallography and consider myself a chemical crystallographer.
